Electronic Bibliographic Data
What is EBD data?
- Weekly data, which can be downloaded from this site, giving bibliographic details about new and changed European Patent Office applications and patents.
- The files give details, for example, about inventors, applicants, titles, filing dates, publication number, designated states, classification, etc.
- The files consist of text data marked up using XML tags according to WIPO Standard ST.36.
- Abstracts of new applications are also available for download - in XML format only.
(Note: We will continue to publish SGML data (WIPO ST.32 and ST.35) during 2006 until all clients have switched to the XML format - which is the official publication file from week 1, 2006)
Why is EBD (xml) data on epo.org
- The files are made easily available on the day of publication
- Time and money are saved by giving online access to this data (compared to current CD/tape transfer)
- The data is in a system and software independent format (XML) which enables it to be used on virtually any platform for many different purposes.
